WASHINGTON - Congressman Alan B. Mollohan was joined by 29 Democratic Representatives on a letter he delivered today to Speaker Nancy Pelosi expressing concerns about possible federal funding of abortion in health insurance reform legislation.
The letter states that “(w)hile some assert that language contained in variations of H.R. 3200, America’s Affordable Health Choices Act, is sufficient to preclude federal funds being used for abortion, we do not agree.” The letter goes on to advocate adoption of the Hyde Amendment. Mollohan has been a staunch pro-life advocate and member of the Congressional Prolife Caucus throughout his tenure in Congress. He served as co-chairman of the caucus from 1985 to 1992. Mollohan also sent a copy of his letter to President Barack Obama. |
